The foundation stone of this project was laid on 11th October 2013, the birth anniversary of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, due to which it was named as JP Ganga Path. In the first phase, 7.5 km road from Digha to Gandhi Maidan was dedicated to the public on 24th June 2022.
Bihar Road Construction Minister Nitin Navin has ordered an inquiry into the incident. The Minister, who reached Darbhanga on Monday, said that he has also received information in this regard, and he has taken it seriously and directed the departmental officers to investigate immediately. Minister Nitin Navin had come to attend the NDA meeting at Jubilee Hall in Darbhanga. He said that after returning from Darbhanga, he will himself inspect the bridge in Patna on Tuesday.

Clarifying the situation, the Minister said that it is not a crack, but the joint of two pillars that leads to such a situation, which is normal from the technical point of view. Despite this, he has asked for a full report and CGM-level officers of the Bihar State Road Development Corporation (BSRDC) have been sent to the spot for investigation. He reiterated that no serious concerns have been raised about the structure of the bridge, yet precautionary checks are being carried out.
